Miata randomly blew the fuse for the headlights so now I’m gonna be late to work ‘cuz it’s not light out yet. Neato. Hopefully it was just the fuse being old because I haven’t touched that circuit.

Good luck. The chances of it just being the fuse is slim.

I lost my brake lights in my 12 year old 100k mile rx8 a couple weeks ago. I put in a new fuse and it popped the second I hit the brakes.

It turned out that the wiring that runs to the 3rd brake light had broken inside the plastic wire sheath and it was shorting out. Some new wire spliced in fixed the issue.

Thankfully other people had the same issue and posted about it making diagnosis pretty easy.

AkursedX is correct; the wiring on old Miatas is a service item. Repair and keep driving. . .
